An increasing number of electronic equipment applications require transmission or reception of a microwave signal. In many cases, these applications involve portable or mobile equipment where it is desirable to enclose the microwaveantenna within the equipment's housing. Examples include mobile 'phone handsets, global positioning receivers and automotive collision-avoidance radar. In these applications, it is essential that the microwave signal is transmittedthrough the equipment housing, including any adhesive joints, without significant attenuation.
