Is it possible to braze using friction-based processes?

TWI Frequently asked questions

Friction-based processes can deliver the heat required to melt braze materials in a well controlled manner. Friction brazing has been used to join copper to ceramic rod which has been electro-coated with a silver braze material.Localised frictional heating at the interface between the copper and the silver braze layer causes the braze material to melt and then wet the copper to form a sound metallurgical bond. The use of flux is not required, making theprocess fast and clean.

Third body friction welding has also been successfully adapted for brazing.
