Uniform heat distribution on the surface of the heater plate is vitally important to ensure a good quality weld. Heater plates are almost exclusively heated by electric heater elements, although hot air has been used. The elementsare kept constant by electronic temperature controllers. Depending upon the size of the heater plate, an inconsistancy of approx. 5°C is accepted across the surface of the plate.
