Background

This report presents s review of thermography carried out under the Co-operative Research Programme at TWI, in conjunction with experimental work. Passive and active thermographic techniques are included, as well as the more specialised photothermal methods which use lasers. Liquid crystals are described in detail, because they have been used by TWI, while infra-red (IR) cameras are mentioned as they are now being introduced into the work programme.
