Background

This report describes the development of software designed to help users of the revision to BSI PD6493 "Guidance on Methods for Assessing the Acceptability of Flaws in Welded Structures" to be released shortly. The design of the software is outlined. It utilises a 'text animator' concept to provide a strong link between the software and the Published Document. The validation of the software is also discussed and a number of worked examples are presented.
