Prediction of Creep Failure of Components Subjected to Steady Loading at Elevated Temperatures - Review of Contemporary Methods

TWI Industrial Member Report Summary 322/1986

By D J Smith

Background

Throughout industry there are many components operating at elevated temperatures. To ensure that these components are adequately designed, it is essential to be able to predict the component failure lifetimes. The specific aim of this report is to review contemporary engineering concepts that have been developed to provide an assessment of component lifetimes under steady loading.
