Background

This review is part of a research programme currently being undertaken at The Welding 1nstitute aimed at finding methods of diffusion bonding aluminium and its alloys, and establishing fundamental information on the effect of process parameters on the properties of the bonds. The compilation of this review has been carried out alongside the initial stages of the experimental programme, the results of which will be the subject of later reports.
